What Is Right with This Picture?

Finally, somebody gets it right.

"The use of the Latin language is to be preserved."

-Vatican II (SC, 36).

"Steps should be taken so that the faithful may also be able to say or to sing together in Latin those parts of the Ordinary of the Mass which pertain to them."

-Vatican II (SC, 54).

  1. Good to see a Latin Mass at all, but its confinement to the Sunday afternoon ghetto is harsh for those choosing to observe the traditional fast. It is also very family UN-friendly, all but guaranteeing that its attendance will be limited to solitary adults or the aged. Indeed, the scheduling can be seen as passive aggressive: granting the requests of tiresome traddies, but in a time slot that can guaranty its failure "from lack of interest".

    1. Of course such a comment had to manifest itself. As a matter of fact, I know the pastor of this particular parish your comments are dead wrong. The pastor is as solid as they come and has a great devotion to the Sacred Liturgy (he says the OF as reverently as possible and has a deep love for the traditional Latin Mass). The traditional Mass, at this parish, has a wide variety of people attending (including young people). Before the current priest became pastor of this parish, he would (whenever he could spare time, as he was assistant pastor at other parishes throughout the diocese) come to the local FSSP parish in the diocese to say Mass, hear confessions, celebrate vespers and compline, etc.

  3. This time is ideal for teens. And for families. No rush Sunday morning. Families can enjoy a leisurely Sunday breakfast.
